About Me

Director, Aimee Brown

During my undergraduate years studying historical performance I realised the gap between musician and dancer was too large and began exploring ways to bring the two groups into better collaboration. I have been working on this research for 6 years now and have been developing ways to better educate musicians in baroque dance. Sydney Baroque Ballet is a culmination of this research. My postgraduate research focused on improving musicians’ and dancers’ experiences of playing baroque dance music.

After 15 years classical ballet training, I switched to baroque dance six years ago and have been blessed to receive training from many incredible dancers in Australia and across the world.

I’m always eager to collaborate, teach, learn and perform so please don’t hesitate to reach out via my Contact Me page

‘Resplendent in period costume and a variety of accessories, Aimee Brown brought the dance-form inspired music to life. Brown’s background resonates well with Salut! Baroque. Hers was a joyous, comfortable performance in front of the instrumentalists on the Verbrugghen Hall stage.’ – Sydney Art’s Guide

‘Her dancing was all clicks of the heels and flicks of the wrists, small, precise, highly controlled gestures that matched the articulation of the music.’ – ClassikON
